Data Concierge Agile Playbook: Table of Content

My book, Data Concierge Agile Playbook, is ready for pre-order on Kindle! Click on the image below to buy!

This week I'll share the table of content for this book.

Data Concierge Agile is the project management methodology you want to adopt for high stakeholder engagement and a successful delivery of your data analytics projects.

There is no jargon.

There are no weird ceremonies from Agile methodologies.

It has a laser focus on stakeholders.

It reiterates the business significance of a data product.

Why do they need it?

How does your work help them?

I’ve been writing fervently to make this book a reality. “Building in public” is the new trend I’m on board with. Here is the table of content. Almost all my Medium articles are written to fulfill each part of the book below. I plan to self-publish on Amazon. This is a sneak peek!

The book will seamlessly connect all the articles below and become a complete playbook you’ll ever need to engage with your stakeholders in data analytics.

It’ll be guide-heavy, not history or pitfalls. We all know what’s wrong in data analytics. This book is a tool to solve these common issues we face in the field.

You can sign up to get weekly tips delivered to your inbox below while waiting for the book to be published.

Table of Content

Part 1:How Data Concierge Agile Solves Current Problems in Data Analytics

We face lack of customer service, bad communication, and constant dissatisfaction between data teams and stakeholders.

Current agile methodologies don’t fit data analytics project life cycle.

Part 2: Data Concierge Agile Core Competency

Data Concierge Agile aims to deliver a world-class stakeholder experience.

There are 4 parts to this.

1) Data Accuracy:

Data presented has to be tripled checked. Don’t present erroneous data. How can you do that without domain knowledge? Your stakeholders can help you.

They’re experts in their field. They can tell if the numbers look normal. Remember, it’s a partnership. You don’t have to do this on your own. Invite them to solve problems with you.

Don’t be shy. They’ll appreciate that. It makes sure the final products are of the highest quality.

More to come…

2) Regular Communication:

Be present.

The data teams disappear whenever a project starts. Don’t be one of those people. Set the tone for regular communication. Reach out and ask questions.

If you have no questions, demo progress and ask for feedback. Stakeholders love seeing progress and feeling included.

3) Equal Ownership:

Commitment from both sides, budget, etc. If it fails, it’s everyone’s fault.

More to come…

4) Equal Partnership:

Understand that this is a collaboration. They can’t do this without you, and vice versa.

It sounds simple. However, many just don’t get it.

I’ve been in many conversations where data teams fume over something that could be resolved by talking to the stakeholders first. They don’t understand why they have to do so much while the data is not usable.

Have you thought of raising that concern to your stakeholders and asking for help?

They don’t just give you questionable data on purpose. Remember, they don’t understand data like you. They need you to help them understand so they can come up with a plan to improve.

Practice equal partnership. If a data project fails, it’s everyone’s fault.

More to come…

5) Trusted Adviser:

The business wants you to provide professional opinions. They may want a dashboard for their use case, but don’t realize what they need is actually an automated report via email daily.

It’s your job to make them understand the pros and cons of different options. They can make an educated decision with your help.

Position yourself as their trusted advisor so you feel respected, and they feel heard.
